The purpose of this subcommittee is to plan fundraisers for the China Committee and related organizations. The net proceeds of the New Year’s Banquet, Fall Gala, and other events are the primary source of funds for the China Committee’s projects. In the last year, we have raised over $50,000 to benefit China Committee events and programs.

Activities, Events & Initiatives

• The 2008 Fall Gala, held November 13, 2008, was attended by nearly 100 notable Chicagoans and staff from the Chinese Consulate.

• Our 2008 Chinese New Year’s Party, January 30th, welcomed Consul General Huang Ping, and honored the staff and family members of the Chinese Consulate in Chicago.

• The New Year’s Banquet on February 15, 2007 was attended by 110 members and friends of the China Committee.

• A reception on May 30, 2007 helped raise more than $15,000 to benefit 11 Chicago athletes attending the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai on October 2-11, 2007.
  

• The 2007 Fall Gala, "Swinging Shanghai," took place September 6, 2007.
