Activities, Events & Initiatives
In September 2008, the Law & Policy Subcommittee, in conjunction with the John Marshall Law School Center for Intellectual Property, held a seminar on intellectual property issues relating to doing business in and with China. The keynote speaker, Dr. Lulin Gao, was a founding Commissioner of the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). Topics included supply chain management issues in view of recent product quality issues.
The seminar is tentatively scheduled to take place again as part of the “China in Chicago” Program in 2009.
In addition, the subcommittee has been involved in a number of legal exchanges with China, including visits to China by a group of U.S. 7th Circuit judges and visits to the U.S. by key officials from the Chinese Patent Office.
