In 1985, Chicago signed a Sister City agreement with Shenyang and a Friendship City agreement with Shanghai. The mission of the Chicago Sister Cities International Program China Committee is to strengthen the partnerships among business, government, cultural and educational institutions, and healthcare concerns in these three great cities.
We have pursued our mission through a series of cultural exchanges, professional dialogs, the establishment of sister school relationships, and cooperation on issues of public policy and economic development. As Chicago and China become more interrelated, we anticipate even more initiatives that will benefit all the partners.
This Web site serves as a tool for both the China Committee and the communities represented by Chicago, Shanghai and Shenyang. We invite you to explore our subcommittees’ pages for more news about our activities, and to contact us if you’d like to get involved.
